After many years of hard work, Leonardo DiCaprio finally won his first Oscar last night for Best Actor in a Leading Role after his outstanding performance in Oscar nominated film “The Revenant”. DiCaprio has been nominated 5 times in the past, but this time he finally made it.
“Making ‘The Revenant’ was about man’s relationship to the natural world. A world that we collectively felt in 2015 as the hot year in recorded history…” He talked about his real life experiences while making the movie and thanked the people that helped him get where he is. He also took the time to inspire others to do good for the world, “Climate change is real, it is happening right now. It is the most urgent threat facing our entire species, and we need to work collectively together and stop procrastinating.”
He references the upcoming U.S. election, emphasizing the importance of a leader that recognizes global warming as a priority. “And certainly with this upcoming election, the truth is this: If you do not believe in climate change, you do not believe in modern science or empirical truths and you will be on the wrong side of history. And we need to all join together and vote for leaders who care about the future of this civilization and the world as we know it.”
We congratulate Leonardo DiCaprio and hope he continues his great work and continues to make contributions to the film industry.
