Who is Performing at the Wayhome Festival This Year?
– Ayse Barut
The WayHome, which is happening from July 28th to 30th this year, is an all ages music and arts festival held in Or-Medonte, Ontario. It was first held in 2015 with four stages and 35,000 attendees. Last year, headliners included LCD Soundsystem, Arcade Fire and The Killers. With its environment and genre, the festival is similar to Bonnaroo which takes place in the U.S. and its genres range from Indie Rock to Electronic and Hip-Hop music.
Wayhome just revealed its line-up for 2017. Notable acts include Frank Ocean, Solange, Flume, Justice, ScHoolboy Q, Jazz Cartier, Danny Brown, Death From Above 1979, Royal Blood, Rag’n’Bone Man, Phantogram and Mura Masa. Minus A Tribe Called Quest, the official lineup looks quite the same with the one that accidentally went out by Death From Above 1979 on Friday, February 10th.
Yes, the question of who was going to be at the festival this year filled the internet with lots of buzz. First on Reddit, user cude3000 along with three other users were very sure about A Tribe called Quest, Imagine Dragons and Frank Ocean headlining the festival. Another user called nv9 has made a list which could be seen by anyone and included the likelihood of all artists who would or would not perform at Wayhome. Death From Above 1979 posted a lineup image on Facebook which was deleted right after people noticed it. It is still unknown if this was simply a mistake of the band or a marketing tactic of Wayhome.
On the website, Wayhome has posted pictorial clues created by five international photographers about the artists who were going to perform this year. Artists such as The Chainsmokers, Phantogram, Ratatat and Mura Masa were among many other names that were being guessed. Kendrick Lamar, Childish Gambino and Chance the Rapper were also expected to join the festival this year since they all seem to be touring across North America upcoming summer but they did not make it to the list.
